A fun introduction to Mambo, Bolero & Samba dancing. Part of the series will be spent on each of the dances allowing students to get their "feet wet" and decide if they would like to dance deeper in to these dance styles.
This is a great class to start learning the "Granddaddy of Swing" steps! So much fun. Bring your energy (a nice bottle of water) and smile and get ready for HAPPY FEET!
Country Waltz (aka "Western Waltz") is a fun dance that crosses the fun of turning and movement from Country 2-Step with the rhythm and music of Waltz. A very popular dance style to have under your belt for today's progressive dance floors!
Nightclub 2-Step (not to be confused with Country 2-Step) is one of the most practical and versatile social dances ever conceived. It is designed to be used with contemporary soft rock (love song) music. This type of music is common just about everywhere, nightclubs, radio, etc. The rhythm of the dance is very simple and rarely changes from the 1&2 count. This simple romantic dance is enjoyed by many dancers. It gives the dancer, either beginning or advanced, teh opportunity to express and create without a rigid technique being required. It's attractive and romantic and a real asset to learn since it can be used often.
This dance is frequently referred to as triple step swing due to the rhythm of the basic triple step. This dance consists of six and eight-count patterns which require a rock step back by both lead and follow to begin. it is a circular dance that is danced with a bounce and is very grounded and not high in the legs. This bounce requires the dancer to stay very smooth and not jump around much. East coast swing is the base for all swing dances.
Bored with the "same old same old" patterns of Cowboy Cha-cha, Sweetheart Schottische, 10-Step (& others)??? This is the class for you! Take your dances to the next level and learn some ways to spice up your fun patterns! This class will not be teaching the base pattern so please make sure you are comfortable for that - we are looking forward to kicking off variations from night one!
Have you been interested in "Ballroom" but aren't sure what that really is? Have you wanted a taste of the different dances? Then this class is for you! During the series we will learn a taste of American Tango, Ballroom Waltz & Foxtrot. It will be enough to get a flavor for the dance and help you decide which dances you would like to pursue further. This is a great opportunity for anyone new to the Ballroom dance genre!
Have you been interested in Swing dancing & all the fun that comes with it but aren't sure what that really is or where to start? Have you wanted a taste of the different dances? Then this class is for you! During the series we will learn a taste of Jitterbug (Single-Step Swing), Country Swing (4-count swing) & West Coast Swing. It will be enough to get a flavor for each of the dance styles and help you decide which dances you would like to pursue further. This is a great opportunity for anyone new to swing!
A special time for the wedding party (bride, groom, wedding party, family, friends) to get together and learn to dance as a group with the wedding date as a focus for fun celebration of the learned dances. Dance style is determined by the private group.
Instructors are always saying . . . practice, practice, practice! However, most people don't have space in their homes to practice (carpet, furniture, pets, etc. in the way) and open dances aren't always a great place to break down your moves and try them without getting run over. Soooo . . . Studio B Dance would like to offer you a chance to come to the studio and dance for free! Bring your music and friends to practice with and the space is yours! Speakers will be set up and guests can take turns playing their music selections. Perhaps plan a time to meet others from your class and work together without being in the "class environment". And most of all . . . have fun!!!
Join in this class to learn Cowboy Cha-cha, Sweetheart Schottische, Cha-cha Del Rio, El Paso, Horseshoe Shuffle & more! These are all of the partner dances that you see where everyone is doing the same pattern in a round circle (or sometimes a line) that look really fun together! As time allows the instructor will also share some easy variations to spice up your patterns a little bit on the floor!
Want a brush up on your West Coast Swing without having to re-take level 1 again? Also want to take your dance up a notch but not ready for a full level 2 yet? Well, then this is your class! After reviewing our 12 basics of the dance we will take things a step further with adding new variations and having fun with this popular dance.
Let's move up together on this fun, playful, sexy latin dance! This class will include more fun dances moves and patterns to take to the floor! (Prerequisite: Level 1 completion or private lesson instruction equivalency)
A special time for the wedding party (bride, groom, wedding party, family, friends) to get together and learn to dance as a group with the wedding date as a focus for fun celebration of the learned dances. Dance style is determined by the private group.
In this class you can learn dances such as Sweetheart Schottische, Cowboy Cha-cha, Cha-cha Del Rio, 10-Step, Horseshoe Shuffle and more! In each dance you are with your partner performing a pattern dance at the same time as the other couples. Jeannette will also teach you some nice variations to spice up the patterns for you and your partner.
Western Waltz is somewhat of a combination between Ballroom Waltz & Country 2-Step . . . it takes the timing & rhythm characteristic of Waltz and pairs it with the turns and progressive nature of Country 2-Step. This is a must-have dance for social dancing or special event dancing (i.e. weddings)!
Congrats to Isabelle & Chris on their engagement and upcoming wedding! It is with great pleasure that we are able to work with the happy couple at 8:00 on Monday nights to compose the choreography for their first dance.
This hour is being held for a student (or students) who have scheduled a series of private lessons. Private lessons allow for the instructor to work directly with each student and focus on the desires/needs of each client. During private lessons you can also choose to work on several dance styles during a series. If you would like to schedule a private (or semi-private) series for yourself, please contact Jeannette Baker for pricing and schedule availability.
Want a brush up on your Hustle without having to re-take level 1 again? Also want to take your dance up a notch but not ready for a full level 2 yet? Well, then this is your class! In this class we will review the level 1 basics and proceed past those on to a little more advanced sets of moves.
Ever wonder what it was like to be "on the other side"? Perhaps the ladies have dreamed about being in charge for a bit? Or, maybe the leads have wondered what it would be like to "just follow"? If you can relate to any of these questions then this class is for you!
In all reality, it is extremely beneficial to your dance to find out what the other half is doing/feeling and how things that you do normally as a lead/follow really do make a big difference to your partner.
When I was learning to become a lead in all of my dance styles I was amazed at how it really helped me as a follow - opening my eyes to so many things I could do better. I would like to now make that experience open to my students as well so that they too can improve their dancing skills.
This series will be a glimpse in to several dance styles . . . we will spend 1-2 weeks per dance style learning some of the basics "from the other side" . . . focusing on at least one swing, ballroom & country dance (perhaps throwing in a latin as well) during the series. Try it out and see how it will change you as a dancer!
During this series of classes we will cover a few things under the umbrella of "country" ... a taste of the country dances. In the series we will learn a few basic steps of the country 2-step or western waltz as well as a round dance or two (plus a variation if time allows) and maybe even a little line dance fun! This is for people who want to pick up a few country items to hit the floor and have some fun!
This class is for students who feel relatively comfortable with all of their basic level 1 moves (but still want to review them for good practice) and are ready to move in to more complex moves in the dance.
Have you ever felt out of control with your turns or wanted to know more about how to make them feel & look great? This workshop is for you! We will work drills on prances, walks, shanays, pivots, etc. A great workshop for leads OR follows. No dance partner required for this class as most of the drills we will be working will be done independently. The turns and drills will improve ALL of your dances. Sign up today and take this workshop for a spin! (Okay, bad pun intended!)
